Republican Donald Trump has been declared the winner of the 2024 US presidential election, securing a stunning comeback victory over Democratic challenger Kamala Harris, AL Jazeera reports.

The Associated Press projected Trump’s victory after he clinched the crucial state of Wisconsin, securing the necessary 270 electoral votes.

Speaking in West Palm Beach, Florida, before the final results were tallied, Trump declared his victory, pledging to usher in a “golden age” for the United States. He praised what he called “the greatest political movement of all time,” celebrating his return to the White House.

Harris has not yet conceded and is expected to address her supporters on Thursday.

World leaders reacted swiftly to Trump’s victory, with many offering congratulations and expressions of hope for continued cooperation.

International Reactions:

Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump’s win, calling it “history’s greatest comeback.” He expressed confidence in strengthening the US-Israel alliance. Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, both members of Netanyahu’s far-right government, also expressed their joy at Trump’s re-election.

Qatar: Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said he looked forward to working with Trump again to promote global security and stability.

Egypt: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi voiced hope that Trump’s return to the White House would contribute to peace in the Middle East.

Iran: Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani downplayed the US election results, stating that Iranian policies remain unchanged and that the election outcome won’t impact Iranian citizens’ lives.

Hamas: Hamas officials, however, expressed skepticism, challenging Trump’s past claims of ending the Gaza conflict within hours. They urged Trump to learn from the “mistakes” of his predecessor, Joe Biden.

China: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that China’s policy towards the US remains consistent, emphasizing mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
