The Las Vegas Raiders have fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, marking the end of his less than a year tenure in the desert. Joining Getsy on the chopping block are quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg, both of whom were also hired in the offseason, The Associated Press reports.

The decision comes after the Raiders’ disheartening 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, marking their fifth consecutive defeat and dropping their record to a dismal 2-7. The team’s offensive woes have been a major storyline this season, with many fans expressing disappointment with the play-calling and overall execution under Getsy.

Getsy, who arrived in Las Vegas after a controversial exit from the Chicago Bears, failed to inspire the Raiders’ offense. The team currently ranks near the bottom of the league in several offensive categories, averaging just 18.7 points and 280.2 yards per game.

While the team’s quarterback situation – which saw the departure of Davante Adams and the arrival of Desmond Ridder – did not exactly inspire confidence, many critics pointed to Getsy’s conservative play-calling and inability to adjust in-game as major factors in their struggles.

This latest shakeup is just the latest in a string of midseason changes for the Raiders, who have become known for their instability in recent years. Since 2020, the team has fired three head coaches or coordinators mid-season, including Paul Guenther, Jon Gruden, and Josh McDaniels.
