A 17-year-old girl, Gabriella Aultman, has been charged as an adult with aggravated assault following a stabbing incident in Natrona County, Oil City News reports.
During her initial appearance in Circuit Court on Friday, Judge Kevin Taheri informed Aultman of the charge, which carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The charges stem from an incident Thursday night when law enforcement and emergency responders were called to the 1500 block of North Poplar Street after a report of a stabbing. Officers found a 17-year-old victim with a knife wound to her abdomen. The victim was treated on-site before being transported to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, where her condition was listed as serious but stable.
Natrona County Assistant District Attorney Joseph Cole requested a $100,000 cash or surety bond, citing concerns for community safety. Aultman, who was present with her father, indicated confusion regarding the bond amount. She also revealed she was under supervised probation in an unrelated case. Aultman’s father expressed concern that a high bond might restrict her access to necessary rehabilitation programs.
Judge Taheri agreed with Cole’s recommended bond amount, noting it could be reassessed at Aultman’s preliminary hearing in the coming weeks. At that hearing, the court will review evidence to determine whether the case should proceed to trial in Natrona County District Court.
Law enforcement quickly located a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses at the scene, finding Aultman and two other juveniles inside. The incident remains under investigation by the Casper Police Department.
