Park County Search and Rescue (PCSAR) successfully managed two challenging rescue missions over the weekend, demonstrating their expertise and collaborative efforts.

The first incident occurred on Friday at approximately 6:00 p.m. when a 911 call reported a 24-year-old man with a broken leg near Deer Creek Trail along the South Fork of the Shoshone River. The injury was sustained while he was packing out an elk camp. PCSAR, in partnership with Guardian Medical Flight from Cody, quickly located the injured individual. After setting up the necessary crews and equipment, they transported him to a remote landing zone where he was flown to Cody Regional Health for further medical attention.

The following evening, on Saturday, October 26, the Park County 911 center received another call around 8:00 p.m. regarding a 73-year-old motorcycle rider who had become stranded approximately two miles north of McCullough Peaks. Although he was unharmed, the rider was unable to move his motorcycle.

To assist the stranded motorist, PCSAR deployed ATVs and utilized night vision equipment and a newly acquired handheld thermal imaging device. With the support of the Park County Sheriff’s Office, the team successfully located the rider and transported him back to Cody, from where he was able to return home to Powell, Wyoming.
