Wyoming Arts Council Announces Fall Piatigorsky Tour Featuring Clarinetist Katsuya Yuasa
The Wyoming Arts Council (WAC), in collaboration with The Piatigorsky Foundation, has announced a free statewide tour this fall, bringing world-class classical music performances to communities across Wyoming, the Cheyenne Post reports.
The tour, which runs from October 16-21, 2024, features internationally acclaimed clarinetist Katsuya Yuasa, accompanied by pianist Mary Au. The performances are free and open to the public.
The Piatigorsky Foundation is dedicated to bringing the joy of live classical music to underserved communities throughout the United States. Since its inception in 1990, the foundation has performed in over 3,775 communities, reaching diverse audiences, including seniors, schoolchildren, and those in rural areas. The Wyoming tour is made possible by the support of the Muriel & Seymour Thickman Family Charitable Trust in Sheridan.
The Wyoming Arts Council has been instrumental in coordinating the annual tour, ensuring that residents in rural areas can enjoy high-quality cultural events that are often only available in larger cities. In addition to the concerts, the tour includes outreach programs at schools and senior centers, further fostering community engagement with the arts.
