Despite a slight increase in the national average price of gasoline over the past week, drivers in Natrona County, Wyoming, are continuing to see some relief at the pump, Oil City News reports.
The average price in the county dropped by one cent to $2.93 per gallon, making it the cheapest in the state. This is in contrast to the national average, which rose by 3.3 cents to $3.16 per gallon, according to GasBuddy data from over 12 million price reports.
While the national average has remained unchanged from a month ago and is 41.8 cents lower than the same time last year, Wyoming’s average gasoline price sits at $3.22 per gallon, down one cent from the previous week. Natrona County’s prices are 7 cents lower than Goshen County, the next cheapest in the state, where the average stands at $3.00 per gallon.
The lowest price recorded in Natrona County on Monday was $2.79 per gallon at an Exxon station, followed by $2.83 per gallon at Sam’s Club, according to GasBuddy reports.
Nationally, the most common gas price is $2.99 per gallon, while states with the lowest prices include Georgia at $2.67, Mississippi at $2.73, and Texas at $2.73. California leads with the highest average at $4.59 per gallon, followed by Hawaii at $4.53 and Washington at $3.99.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that the rise in gas prices is partly linked to the conflict in the Middle East, though oil prices have begun to ease. De Haan also suggested that with oil prices declining and recovery underway in storm-hit Florida, there may be a drop in gas prices in the coming weeks.
As for diesel, the national average rose by 4 cents to $3.58 per gallon. Wyoming’s diesel prices follow a similar trend, with the highest prices recorded in Hawaii at $5.24 and the lowest in Texas at $3.08.
