Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have decreased by 3.3 cents per gallon over the past week, bringing the average price to $3.18 per gallon as of Monday, according to a survey conducted by GasBuddy.com of 494 stations in the state.

Compared to a month ago, prices in Wyoming are 7 cents lower, and they stand 57.2 cents lower than they were a year ago.

The survey revealed a significant price range across the state, with the cheapest station offering gas at $2.79 per gallon and the most expensive at $3.99 per gallon, resulting in a $1.20 difference.

On a national scale, the average price of gasoline has dropped by 4.6 cents over the past week, now averaging $3.13 per gallon. This represents a decline of 11.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and is 56.2 cents lower than a year ago, based on GasBuddy data compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports from more than 150,000 gas stations nationwide.

Gas prices in nearby areas include:

  • Fort Collins: $3.23 per gallon, down 7.4 cents from last week’s $3.31.
  • Ogden: $3.41 per gallon, down 9.5 cents from last week’s $3.50.
  • Billings: $3.13 per gallon, down 7.8 cents from last week’s $3.21.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that while the national average has dipped, geopolitical tensions, particularly Iran’s recent attack on Israel, have led to a surge in oil prices, which may halt the downward trend in gasoline prices. Additionally, he highlighted the ongoing hurricane season, mentioning Hurricane Milton’s impending landfall in Florida, which could affect fuel availability.

De Haan expressed cautious optimism, stating that while motorists might see increases in gas prices due to Middle East tensions, the possibility of a $2.99 national average this fall remains achievable.
