Traffic Stop Leads to Pursuit and Tragic Incident

A traffic stop on Sunday morning resulted in a short police chase and ended in a tragic event involving the loss of life, Oil City News reports.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., a deputy from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle belonging to an individual with multiple arrest warrants near the intersection of CY Avenue and Wyoming Boulevard. Upon the deputy’s approach, the suspect displayed a firearm, exited the vehicle, and fired a shot into the air before re-entering the car and driving away.

Local law enforcement initiated a pursuit as the suspect headed north. The chase concluded when the individual pulled over, displayed the firearm again, and took their own life. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a statement from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), no officers discharged their weapons during this incident. The case is currently under investigation by the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation.
