The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued several significant vehicle recalls last week, affecting over 224,000 vehicles, USA Today reports.
Notably, more than 77,000 Mazda vehicles were recalled due to airbag issues. Other recalls impact models from General Motors, Toyota, Harley-Davidson, Mercedes-Benz, and Fiat, with issues ranging from brake fluid leaks to engine stalling.
Consumers concerned about their vehicle’s recall status can check databases like the USA TODAY automotive recall database or search the NHTSA website by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Mazda has recalled 77,670 of its 2016-2023 MX-5 Miata vehicles due to a software error in the airbag control module. This issue may cause the front airbags to deploy with excessive force during a crash, posing an injury risk. Owners can expect notification letters by November 17.
Toyota is recalling 42,199 Corolla Cross Hybrid models from 2023-2024. A software error in the skid control electronic control unit (ECU) can cause a loss of power brake assist when turning, increasing crash risk. Owners will be notified by November 5.
General Motors is recalling 18,325 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles (2013-2019 models) due to insufficient clearance between the brake line and body mounts, which could lead to brake fluid leaks and brake failure. Owners will be notified by November 4.
Harley-Davidson has recalled 41,637 motorcycles across several 2024 models. A voltage regulator wire may rub against the engine, causing a short circuit and power loss. Notifications were sent on September 23.
Mercedes-Benz has issued two recalls:
- 27,190 vehicles (2021-2023 S580 and Maybach S580 models) for potential engine stalling caused by a mechanical failure in the Camtronic system. Notifications will be sent by November 26.
- 2,025 vehicles (2024 models including the CLE 300 Convertible and Coupe) due to a software error in the MBUX multimedia system that may deactivate emergency braking systems. Notifications are expected by November 12.
Stellantis is recalling 15,835 Fiat 124 Spider vehicles (2017-2020 models) due to a software error that may cause the front airbags to deploy with excessive force during a crash. Owners will be notified by November 7.
