Federal agents from the FBI and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service raided the headquarters of Carahsoft Technology Corp. in Reston, Virginia, as part of an ongoing investigation.
Carahsoft, a major distributor of technology products for government agencies, confirmed the search but did not provide further details.
Witnesses, including John Weiler, CEO of the IT-Acquisition Advisory Council, reported that agents collected documents and employee computers. A Carahsoft representative, Mary Lange, stated that the investigation involves a company that Carahsoft has worked with in the past, adding that Carahsoft is “fully cooperating” with authorities and continuing to operate “business as usual.”
The FBI confirmed “court-authorized law enforcement activity” at the location but declined to elaborate. This raid marks another interaction between Carahsoft and federal authorities, following a 2015 settlement in which the company and VMware Inc. agreed to pay $75.5 million for allegedly overcharging the government on software products.
Carahsoft, founded in 2004, has grown into a dominant player in the government IT procurement sector, partnering with major tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Oracle. With over 2,400 employees and $11 billion in annual revenue, Carahsoft ranks as one of the largest private companies in the US.
The investigation is ongoing, and the company has not made additional comments regarding the scope of the inquiry.
