Local authorities in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, have reported that a car crash into the patio area of a tavern resulted in two fatalities and three injuries.
The event happened at Park Tavern, a popular local restaurant, at about eight o’clock in the evening on Sunday. A report of a vehicle collision at the location prompted police to arrive on the scene.
Unreleased surveillance footage purports to capture the driver pulling into the tavern’s parking lot and making an attempt to park before abruptly swerving into the patio area outside. Both the identities of the victims and the medical status of those who were injured have not yet been made public.
The driver was detained on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide; his identity has also not been made public. The investigation is still ongoing, and the Minnesota State Patrol is reconstructing the crash in great detail.
Park Tavern, a landmark in the community with a history spanning more than 60 years, called the incident tragic. The venue has a reputation for organizing events and serving as a hub for the neighborhood.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, as the investigation is ongoing. It is anticipated that more information will become available as the inquiry continues.
