India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi Set to Meet Polish Leaders Before Ukraine Visit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with Polish leaders on Thursday, marking a significant diplomatic visit just one day before his anticipated arrival in Ukraine, which will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to either country, CNN reports.
Modi’s journey comes shortly after his recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which represented the first bilateral visit of his current term as Prime Minister.
Upon arriving in Warsaw on Tuesday, Modi addressed members of the Indian diaspora, emphasizing India’s commitment to “diplomacy and dialogue.”
“India’s view is absolutely clear – this is not the era of war… This is the time to unite to deal with the challenges which pose the greatest threat to humanity,” he said.
During his visit to Poland, Modi is expected to meet with President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to enhance cooperation on various regional and global issues of mutual interest. According to India’s Foreign Ministry, this visit marks the first time in 45 years that an Indian Prime Minister has visited Poland.
Following his discussions in Poland, Modi will travel to Ukraine on Friday, where he is expected to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky. Their talks are anticipated to cover a wide range of topics, including economic ties, infrastructure development, and defense cooperation, reflecting the broader scope of bilateral relations.
