A man bleeding from a recent hair transplant was arrested at Miami International Airport on Tuesday after refusing to leave a plane, causing a tense standoff with airline staff and police, Sky News reports.
Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, and his companion, Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, were forced out of an American Airlines flight bound for Las Vegas after flight attendants became concerned about Hernandez-Garnier’s bleeding head and potential contamination of the aircraft.
According to local media reports, Hernandez-Garnier, who allegedly had recently undergone a hair transplant, reportedly lacked fresh bandages to clean the wound and refused to disembark the plane.
Loyola, his companion, escalated the situation further by refusing to leave as well, stating, “if they could not fly, no one else can either,” according to the arrest report.
Police were eventually called to the aircraft and warned the pair they would be arrested if they continued to resist. Loyola, seemingly undeterred, began live-streaming the incident on TikTok.
The couple was eventually handcuffed and removed from the plane by officers, delaying the flight and prompting a discussion on social media about the boundaries of passenger behavior and appropriate responses to health concerns on commercial flights.
