Trump Offers Elon Musk Cabinet Post in Potential Second Term, Tesla CEO Agrees

Elon Musk has expressed openness to serving in a US government role, following Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s offer of a Cabinet post or advisory position in a potential second term.

“I am willing to serve,” Musk wrote on X.

The announcement comes just days after Musk conducted an interview with Trump on his platform X. In the interview, Trump praised Musk’s automobiles, stating, “although not everyone ought to acquire an electric car, Musk nonetheless produces ‘great products’.”

Musk previously expressed his support for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election but switched his allegiance to Trump after an assassination attempt against him in mid-July, writing on X, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

Trump earlier told Reuters that he generally opposed tax breaks and credits but was not yet making “final decisions on” the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, which Biden has increased.

The potential appointment of Musk to a high-ranking position in a Trump administration would be a significant development, considering Musk’s status as a tech mogul and his influence on social media. The move would likely raise eyebrows, given Musk’s past support for Biden.
