Currently reports about 11.000 affected bank customers.
On September 27, a large-scale personal data leak occurred at the US Bank, according to draft letters posted to the California Attorney General’s website. Bank employees continue to notify some of their customers that their personal information has been accidentally shared.
About 11,000 customers were affected when a service provider accidentally shared customers’ personal information, a US bank spokesman told NBC News.
The incident was linked to a leak of personal information, including names, social security numbers, closed account numbers, and outstanding credit balances. Customers with closed credit card accounts in US banks were also affected, the letter said.
The bank said the error was discovered quickly and the necessary technical work is being carried out jointly with the victims. The employees reassured the bank’s customers and said that in the end they received an act on the destruction of information.
Moreover, the bank is offering affected customers two years of free access to an online credit monitoring service. The bank once again reminds all bank users to remain vigilant and post fraud warnings in their credit files.
